Senior Frontend Developer — React / Next.js

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Developer with strong expertise in React and Next.js to design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications.

In this role, you will take ownership of frontend architecture and technical decisions, contribute to performance and code quality initiatives, and help establish engineering best practices. You will also collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver accessible, reliable, and user-focused experiences.

The role requires hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including the ability to evaluate, validate, and improve AI-generated code with a strong focus on quality, security, performance, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, production-grade applications using React and Next.js.

• Make architectural decisions related to component design, state management, data flow, rendering strategies, and application structure.

• Optimize frontend performance, including Core Web Vitals, bundle size, rendering strategies, and caching.

• Build reusable, accessible, and well-tested components based on Figma designs and established design systems.

• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST and/or GraphQL APIs, including authentication, error handling, and loading states.

• Conduct code reviews focused on quality, scalability, accessibility, security, and maintainability.

• Use AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT to accelerate development while critically reviewing and validating generated code.

• Establish and promote frontend testing practices using unit, integration, and E2E testing.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.

• Partner with product managers and designers to define features, estimate effort, and evaluate technical trade-offs.

• Stay current with the React and Next.js ecosystem and evaluate new technologies, libraries, and AI-assisted development workflows.

• Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with React and 2+ years with Next.js.

• Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.

• Strong experience with React, including Hooks, Context API, component design patterns, and reusable architecture.

• Strong experience with Next.js, including App Router and/or Pages Router, SSR, SSG, ISR, and API routes.

• Solid understanding of state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, React Query/TanStack Query, or similar technologies.

• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and modern CSS solutions such as Tailwind CSS, Styled Components, or CSS Modules.

• Proven experience with web performance optimization and Core Web Vitals, including LCP, CLS, and INP.

• Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL, including authentication mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth.

• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or Claude in a professional development workflow.

• Ability to review, correct, test, and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and adherence to engineering standards.

• Strong experience with frontend testing tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright.

• Proficiency with Git, collaborative development workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD.

• Understanding of web accessibility standards, including WCAG and ARIA.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical decisions and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Nice To Have Skills

• Experience with Node.js or backend/full-stack development.

• Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into frontend applications, such as chat interfaces, streaming responses, or prompt-driven UIs.

• Experience with cloud and deployment platforms such as Vercel, AWS, or Azure.

• Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading a small development team.

• Experience working with modern design systems and component libraries.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong product mindset and experience working in environments with ambiguous requirements.

• Ability to challenge technical, product, or design decisions using data and engineering best practices.
